Don't purchase
The reason I purchased this product was because my previous Oster toaster worked properly for years. Purchased the first one and immediately noted the center element was not working. It was returned without any issues. When I received the 2nd toaster it worked properly for about a week. Then the center/middle element stopped working again. It seems to be a common design flaw. While it was working, it toasted well and as excepted until it stopped. If you considering purchasing this toaster, my advice is to keep the original packaging until you are satisfied that you have not purchased a dud.

Awesome!
Great toaster. The two long openings make toasting any size bread easy. Looks sharp on our counter and does a great, even toasting job!

great toaster!
this is an excellent toaster, if a little bit big on the counter. the dial works well and allows you to pick how much or little you want your toast done. no complaints.

Finally - don't have to cut artisan bread in half!
I can finally toast the artisan bread I like. Toaster works just as advertised. Slots are long enough to fit two standard pieces of bread and the toaster if faster than my previous toasters. Also looks good on the counter.

A few weeks of "anemic" toast until the toaster "straightened up & settled down".
Upon opening the box, I wondered if I'd ordered a toaster or an airstream camper. It's very retro & sleek looking, and I've grown to love the look...BUT, I really wasn't happy with it at first, since it literally burned EVERYTHING, if it wasn't set on the lowest, a.k.a."Anemic", setting. I couldn't figure out why you'd need so many settings, if all but the lowest gave you charred toast & bagel remains. For whatever reason....I guess primarily because we had nothing else, and I hate packing things up & returning them (and I liked the look).....we just stuck it out in the "pale" zone, and over the next few weeks, it seemed to straighten up and settle down. Maybe toasters DO respond to continued nasty mutterings. Anyway, I can't explain it, but it now gives us a decent toasted bagel, burger bun....whatever. Here's hoping it doesn't get cranky in it's old age.

It works for toast, but is not as well made and the bagel and warm functions both do nothing but burn your toast.
Update: I did return this toaster upon finding that that not only did the bagel button not work, using the warming button burned up my toast. Not at all the product I was expecting from this company.---I just got this toaster today and already I am not at all happy with it. For one thing, I love bagels and thought that it would toast one side only. Not at all, it has a bagel button and I did push it, but that changed nothing, my bagel was toasted on the cut side but the outside was burned. It is very light weight and heats up on the outside a great deal, the elements do not turn on evenly and in general, it is not at all what I expected. The one thing I like about it is that I will be able to toast my bakery bread in it due to the longer slots.EDITING: I have two pretty burnt pieces of toast at the moment. Why, you might ask? Because I had it toasted perfectly and tried the warm button. I am strongly considering returning this expensive piece of garbage.

Burns Your Bagels
Ok, in my world a Toaster is suppose to be a very easy item to work. I will say this, it is easy to work. But there is a but. The Bagel setting is supposed to toast the cut side and at most, warm the backside. This one does a fine job of toasting both sides equally, therefore, burning the backside. I called Oster to inquire and was informed by the very nice lady that yes indeed, both sides will be active in the Bagel setting. Another lovely feature is that when a standard slice of bread placed inside and the lever pushed down is even with the top of the slot and does not sink below, therefore, the top half to one inch does not get toasted.I really wanted to like this toaster but it's going back.

The best part of the toaster is the long opening for ...
Just as advertised. The best part of the toaster is the long opening for the toast. Sure, you can toast 4 regular slices of toast at the same time, but I like that I can now toast those oversized sourdough bread slices when I want to without cutting them in half.

The only good thing about this toaster is the extra long slot
The only good thing about this toaster is the extra long slot. Other than that, it's terrible. It toasts unevenly (burnt on the side of the bread, not toasted enough in the middle). It also burns very easily so it's been difficult to find just the right setting. I didn't realize that I would miss the ability to toast different items at different settings... i.e. bagel on one side, toast on the other. Our old toaster had a different setting for each side. I can't tell you how many bagels and pieces of toast we have thrown away. Now I get to throw the toaster away, too.

It's adequate!
According to the Amazon reviews, 21st century technology hasn't progressed to where we can toast a long slice of bread evenly. With this goal beyond our reach, I figure there's no sense paying for a boutique toaster. This Oster is among the least expensive long slice units, and it does not have a nuisance beeper so I'm pleased.

Uneven & Inconsistant
I purchased this unit as recommendation from my daughter as she owns one and it appears to operate fine. However; my toaster does not live up to expectations as it does not toast evenly nor is it consistent with the dial from one day to day. Maybe it is just a lemon. As others have indicated some times it will be toasted ones side will be fine and the other side is unevenly toasted. When the elements are observed when "ON" some of the elements are barely glowing when others are cherry red (creating dark or burned spots on the bread).

Love this toaster
Love this toaster. Some are complaining that it burns everything. But if you use the dial to your preferred brownness, then it works great. Now no one has to wait for their toast. And is slim enough for my small space.

Inconsistent, but decent toasting
This toaster was a bit more $ than others, but not ridiculously over priced like brevelle junk. The toasting settings can be inconsistent, but overall, it does a decent job toasting bread, English muffins and even bagels. Why does it seem to be so Gd impossible to find a consumer based toaster than toasts bread consistently at each setting? The longer slots are my preference, and its tough to get a solid long slot toaster apparently, but this one is working fine for now. It feels a bit flimsy but the brushed finish is nice looking. the controls are strange in that you have to press the lever down, if you want to alter your toasting preference such as bagel/warm/etc. IOW, you depress the toasting lever on toast, and change it after the toaster begins toasting, not a big deal, just informing. Also, beware, it pops up with some speed, and I have had a few english muffins go flying, but the kids thought it was fun(ny) so again, no biggie. The cord situation is quirky too, but I make it work by keeping the toaster "stored" on the counter flat against the wall, where the label faces forward, and I turn it sideways clockwise to keep the cord in the back as I bring the controls forward. This creates a kink in the cord after a few times, but for the 3rd time, no big deal. Nothing is perfect, I'm content with the features/design, and decent toasting capabilities. Boy how our standards are lowered by lazy manufacturing these days-lol.
