Yes , this board include the cursive words " Happy Birthday".

Why won't the letters go in all the way? They fall off so easy (more so on the black side than the grey side)

I don't know why but I have the same issue. I should have returned it and bought a different one. Too late now so I'm just dealing with it. I would return it if you are still within your return period
